Im not going to rant, but if any of you have officially reduced your hiphop intake in the last couple of years you're not alone. I can't handle hiphop anymore. I can't handle listen to someone speak to me in the background while i'm thinking or working on other things and they keep saying or mumbling "Kill, Steal, Cuun, Daac, Riid, Garaac, Fuul, Wus, duuq,
dil"

I have found a tiny niche of solitude in deephouse and chill beats without words.

Be cautions of what your young siblings and cousins who are especially pre-teens listen to. Let them understand that although you aren't trying to be an old fart to them, these rappers are all neefs.

It seems these new age neefs don't want to even earn money anymore, they just want to consume pills and wear womens clothes all day.

This is getting out of fucking hand.:faysalwtf:

My cousin showed me a rapper he listens to and the guy has his whole face covered in Advertising. I had to play some chill beats for him and it seems to be working, he uses it to study and just relax.

FMnuff!

Each type of music has its own purpose/target audience like a story. lil qashin does heavily target that pre teen demographic , as a 20 year old i shamefully still listen a select few of them but only because it’s fun to listen. I do appreciate real rap as it’s similar to poetry which is a very Somali thing. Hence why I posted a Knaan song for people to translate which ironically Somalis are too ‘lazy’ to do.

Hip hop has always been a reflection of its audience, I don’t blame the new rappers, I blame the demand out their for their specific choice of rap. It used to make sense but I guess teenagers love sound effects on beats.

You just gotta turn off the radio and listen to underground authentic lyrics :)

Poetry has wisdom and lessons.

I get focused when Somalis say "Oh we have poetry, so hiphop is like that".

Gabaay is deeper than rap. The recitations make the tongue a pen to carry information and history.

What does Gang, Gang, Gang, Guub:z1banet:, Laad:iohmbdg:,Fahr, Riid:4uzpnkt:,jiib:i83dwbv:,

I listened to a Gabay once in person that shook my consciousness, we don't have many words and it think it's because we took the power of words seriously.

What if you can create a need people don't want?

This is what marketing is about, to sell you something you don't actually need, but for some reason feel urgency to behold.

The nature of spoken word does get you riled up because it’s a very human experience to be there and have a front row seat . That does take away something from conscious rap which I never really thought about.

Is it the language that aids our love for poetry ? There’s probably other reasons but that was a valid insightful point.

Here’s something to consider.

Somewhere right now there’s a Geeljire walking with his camel and he takes a break to sit.

He has no phone, no notifications and no distractions.

When his eyes are closed and it’s silent, what do you think comes across his mind?

Simple words that hold deep meaning. Less is more when it comes to meditation and clarity. When I ever I feel stressed I think and have thoughts in Af Somali in complete silence.

We have become louder because the world around is filled with noise pollution. And in the nomads domain, pure silence and an opportunity to explore consciousness.

All i hear is auto-tuned murmuring from a retard that think he is a rapper and you have other retards that like the shit and express their admiration for the song saying "nigga that shit was hard though bruh!" :mjpls:

All these new age mumble rappers are part of the LGBT agenda they're prolly thinking if Young Thug and Uzi Vert can make it so can we all we gotta do is hold ankles for the big darg and we're up.

Beetch ass neegas have no content in their rap they just want to f*ck up the new generation same thing that crack did In the 80s

Nothing's rly happened to Hip-Hop. Good music is still out there, & will always be. The only thing that's changed is that the current hip-hop/rap "trash" has more industry support/mainstream appeal than it would've in previous generations (...but then again, the same can be observed across all genres- pop, rock, country, etc -in main media- have also deteriorated in quality).

Lol this is the reason i stick with piano music/Asian music. No glorifying violence and drugs etc. So much better than the trash that comes out in the west.

To answer OPs question, rap is now fully evolved. Rock once started out homogenous then it expanded and got subgenres and more subgenres. Rap/hip hop is the most influential genre in the world to the point that even pop music is almost a subgenre of hip hop.

Basically, hip hop is not homogenous anymore you bidaarleh :kodaksmiley:
