WSLF and ONLF under Derg regime (1975-1991)

ONLF was created in 1984 but wasn't a fighting force until 1994.

Anyways, WSLF was led by Yusuf sugaal and he basically decided to gain back our land. Aabe Siad told him that if the WSLF successfully returned some of our land back I think it was 60 per cent or something then the SNA would help.

Aabe Yusuf saw this opportunity during the Ethiopian civil war. However when he decided to invade, Haile Mariam, the dog was announced leader.

Even though, Ethiopia’s army was stronger and bigger and what not. 3 to 1 ratio, we still got a hold of Somali galbeed. We went of all the way to dir Daba in mid August. But the Russians stopped giving us weapons because the Derg regime was more socialist then us or some bs.

Ethiopian army grew stronger and with the help of the deformed Cubans, they managed to make WSLF retreat.

We lost that war and Siad Barre told the WSLF they couldn’t invade ‘Ethiopia’ and Aabe Yusuf was defeated.

Because the WSLF were weak and basically non existent, the ONLF was founded by aabe Abdirahman Mahdi and aabe Mohammed ismael Omar in 84. The ONFL haven’t done anything particularly worth mentioning and Somali galbeed still belongs to Ethiopia.

WSLF was very strong until 1985. It biggest mistake was they trusted Siad Barre and he betrayed rebels.

Someone has to write the history of this movement.
