Would you claim your ‘clan’ if your father left your mother before you were 1 years old?

Just going to keep it 100, that’s what happened to me. I know his tribe, know the region (Biciidyahaan of majeeerteen, Werder region in Ethiopia) but I have no connection to them and have only visited my mothers clan (dhulbahante -laascaanood) and family. This is what I’ve always viewed my ‘tribe’ as. Again, I don’t want to promote any qabilism, this is just family and clan relations.

Yes but it would hurt to say because it would be a painful reminder of that event. I would still claim and try to get to learn more about that side of my family. At least, see what led to my father’s actions and how much that side of the family cares for me. The present parent definitely has the power to make their child connected to both sides or only their side.

Yes. a bastard is the clan of the man who was married to their mother. Children follow the bed as we Shafiis correctly hold, that is why the slave is the clan of his master and automatically born free

You kind of have no choice especially if you know your fathers lineage islamically speaking
they are both from the same sub-tribe just different branches. My maternal fam is quite famous in our sub tribe. They know i'm from my father's branch just when I mention my mother's and grandmother's (my mother's mother) names.:mjcry: :mjcry: My maternal grandmother is very social and quite well connected in my clan. Just saying that i'm her granddaughter, and everyone will knows who I am and the deadbeat father that gave birth to me :hova::noneck:

Once in a blue moon my father's siblings visit. They don't mind that we can't recognize them but when they find out that I never even heard of their names or didn't even know they existed, they get this mixture of disappointment/ anger in their eyes :kendrickcry::jaynerd::what:
They'll be like "Ma igaranaey sid?"
I'll hit them with, "Yaa tahai? Maga caa?" :pachah1: :russ::deadpeter:

I don't know if it's evil of me that I find that shit amusing :mjlol::mjlol:

In all seriousness, Allah tells us we’ve been given tribes and nations to know each other in the Qur’an. You may love your mothers clan but you are not from them. You are Majeerteen. Your mother and fathers clans are siblings, both the children of Harti.
