I have a pseudo western sounding surname
It has nothing to do with that.
You don't have a proper surname. You have your Abos name which means you are his son.
You can never give a girl your name, she is not your sister.

But I changed that so it shouldn't be an issue now.It has nothing to do with that.

I haven't changed anything.. It just a joke walal.. It seems like you take your family very seriously. It is haraam for you to change it.
Why are you changing your lineage?
Your name second name should be your fathers name, then your grandfather then your great grandfather ect.
Islamically and culturally that is how it is meant to be.

Exactly. If my last name is Guled and I change it to my husbands last name of Warsame, im basically saying that he’s my awoowe. Its worse to take the surname of Somali as our surname means that we are the son of or the grandchild of ect. It is a mark of your lineage.
Cadaan people's surname is not an indication of lineage and it is merely a family name they have been given historically.
Any woman that takes your name, Somali or not, muslim or gaal, will be walking around claiming your abo and your grandfather as her father and grandfather.
Clearly it is worse.
But all in all changing your surname is haraam.
Unless when it comes to polygamyI take Islam very seriously, and Islam is serious about lineage.
I'll ask my local imam about this question
Unless when it comes to polygamy
Will doeven your adopted kids can’t take your surname. . People keep their father’s name and that’s it. But I encourage you to ask an imam.
