Worshipping Muhammed PBUH

It feels like people always forget that one of the core principles of islam is love of the prophet. After Allah your suppose to love the prophet before anything else.

The biggest problem with modern salafism is that it reduces the emphasis of love of the prophet. Also the idea that love of the prophet could lead you astray is fundamentally misguided.

I know Salafis get a lot of hate on here, but I don’t think any Salafi loves the Prophet S.a.w less than say any Sufi. A lot of Sufis use it as a stick to beat them with because they say “Salafis don’t allow Mawliid or they don’t allow sending salutations to the Prophet after the Athaan” so then they equate that with Salafis are completely against sending Salutations on the Prophet and they don’t love him.

However, their opposition to the Mawliid, correct or incorrectly is because they see it as a bidca. Same if you go Somalia for example to the Sufi masjids after the athaan they will start saying “ yaa mawla sali cala nabiyana maxamed”, and Salafis say that this wasn’t done by the Prophet s.a.w or his companions so is an innovated matter.

Laakin Salafis all believe and follow these hadiths

Narrated Anas:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said "None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind.(Bukhari)

Abu Hurairah narrated that :
Allah's Messenger said: "Whoever sends Salat upon me, Allah sends Salat upon him ten times."(Tirmidhi)

Narrated Anas:
A man asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about the Hour (i.e. Day of Judgment) saying, "When will the Hour be?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "What have you prepared for it?" The man said, "Nothing, except that I love Allah and His Apostle." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You will be with those whom you love." We had never been so glad as we were on hearing that saying of the Prophet (i.e., "You will be with those whom you love.") Therefore, I love the Prophet, Abu Bakr and `Umar, and I hope that I will be with them because of my love for them though my deeds are not similar to theirs.(Bukhari)

And they believe of course in the Ayat in Surah Axzaab

56. Allah sends His Salat (Graces, Honours, Blessings, Mercy, etc.) on the Prophet (Muhammad
saws.gif
) and also His angels too (ask Allah to bless and forgive him). O you who believe! Send your Salat on (ask Allah to bless) him (Muhammad
saws.gif
), and (you should) greet (salute) him with the Islamic way of greeting (salutation i.e. As-Salamu 'Alaikum).

Plus sending salutations on the Prophet in every prayer in attaxiyaat.

and importantly most of all, they 100% believe and follow this Ayat and discuss it in length in lectures and tafsiir, that if you love the Prophet s.a.w then the biggest way to prove and show this love is by following him , and practicing his Sunnah.

31. Say (O Muhammad
saws.gif
to mankind): "If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Qur'an and the Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."(Al-Cimraan)

I think you misunderstood what I'm saying. They of course believe in love of the prophet and his place in islam. But what i said is that they dont emphasize it.

You brought up following the sunnah and believing in ayah but thats not what im talking about. I grew up going to your avg somali mosque in the west and before I started learning more about islam i of course knew that love of the prophet was an important thing but only in this very abstract way. Nobody was giving a khutbah or talk on love of the prophet. Even the idea of sending blessings upon the prophet as something you should do outside of prayer time is something I never heard about.
This spiritual aspect of islam is something your avg mosque doesnt give much weight into since we've all become slightly salafi leaning in the late 20th century. But theres a reason salafi burnout is a thing.

This would of have been an extremely alien worldview to basically any Muslim before the 20th century. There is a reason that even in somalia a huge chunk of the surviving arabic manuscripts we have are basically poetry in praise of the prophet.

If you look at anybody studying islam traditionally a core part of their studying is they use to spend part of their time sending blessings on the Prophet.
