I manipulate.Waan hiigaa
You manipulate.Waad hiigtaa
He manipulates.Wuu hiigaa
She manipulates.Way hiigtaa
We manipulate.Waan hiignaa
You (plural) manipulate.Waad hiigtiin
They manipulate.Way hiigaan

Never heard of its usage in this context, but it does make sense, for 'hiig | hiigid' in its original form is where:
a) Animal hide is being flayed, stretched, and treated for purposeful usages, as in a rug, mattress, masallah, or for decoration.

I think it also means 'pull', but can not think of the context.

Hiigsi, as in 'striving towards, aspiring to, reaching for', might also have its root in Hiig.

Addendum:
And 'manipulus' in its Latin origin is 'skillful handling of objects', which speaks to its contemporary application.

Can you share with us what is Waamo dialect?
A variant of the Northern maxaa tiri with a Southern flare. It is spoken in Jubaland and NFD. Words that typically end in -o in Northern Somali end in -a in the Waamo dialect. There are other differences too.

Basically when folk from Galbeed arrived in the region 200 years ago, they mixed with the Southern Somalis they encountered on their way along with the Wardey they eventually subjugated. This caused their dialect to diverge from the original Galbeed dialect
