How to say “matchmaking” in Somali language?

In Somali language, matchmaking is called calafdoon.

synonym: guurdoon, jinidoon, Jiniraadis, reerdoon, guridoon, xiriirdoon. Antonym: jixinjixdoon, jixdoon.

note: jinidoon = the one, soulmate

Actually, there is more common term:
'Isu-doon | isu-doonis' is matchmaking as in ' waa la isu doonay'.

'Calafdoon' would mean seeking sustenance, with both words having their root in Arabic: 'calaf - علف fodder, grass, and 'doon - دونَ ' 'seek, reach'.

I think "calaf" means fate or "the one," and "doon" means "to find." Basically, "calafdoon" means to find the one that God has made for you or fate has decided.

Note:
Keep in mind that when we borrow a word, its usage can evolve. In some cases, these loanwords take on new meanings. Therefore, we should consider how Somali speakers use the borrowed word, rather than relying solely on its old Arabic definition.
