i thought istus was more like showoff? whats attention in somali btw
I am thinking along these lines: The two are very close in sense. *

'Danayn', with its root being 'dan', is attention, which is also used to mean 'desire' in fine literature.

'Doolaal' is a nickname given to someone, who seeks attention, as in 'doolaal badanidee'. It too is used to describe when animals esp. camels seek mating attention, as in 'waa awr doolaal miidhan ah'.

Postscript:
* With the word 'attention' itself having dual meanings:
a) Seeking attention, as in desiring, or
b) Paying attention, as in consideration.

Showeeste
Her ladyship,
You might be unto something. If you could be good enough as to share with us mere mortals that fine word's etymological root.
