If you live "for yourself". What will you have left over when you depart this plain? Getting married and/or having children doesn't mean you must have fully arrived. In life, you'll never arrive until you get to your "final destination". I will attest to the fact that being without makes things easier for your logistically and financially speaking. If you asked me a couple of years ago I would have said they would be a hindrance to my success. I've realized I'm the only one acting as a barrier to it. I don't have to blame anyone else. Nor am I required to live an austere life because I haven't "made it" according to my subjectively defined success scale. Life is measured by the quality of the relationships we have with people and what we do to make a difference in the lives of people we meet. One does not have to abandon their goals/aspirations because they want to get married and/or have children, sxb it's not mutually exclusive. If you want to forgo marriage for whatever length of time (or completely), that's up to you. And you don't have to have children. Its just good to question long held beliefs.
