No hate but is this stuff more common in PL? Or people just spread it a lot? I hope they get their justice inshaβallah
I am a firm believer in 'believe all women', that said, the girl told the police that she loves the boy. Again lending credence to the eyewitness testimony by the neighbour who knows them to be lovers.
The only person who has alleged rape is her mother.
Case is still developing.
I wonder if they decided to be lovers instead of halal wed, because he is Madhiban and likely his proposal would be rejected.
Sometimes in a romantic relationship, non-consensual sex can occur. A common scenario involves a girl who loves a boy, he promises marriage, but constantly pressures her for sex. Despite not wanting to, the girl fears losing him and gives in. The boy uses pressure and manipulation, and when the parents find out, the girl defends him to some extent. Unfortunately, stories like these are more common than we might think.
is this rape? I dont know, but knowing Somali society the girl will be shamed for the rest of her life, and most of these scenarios end up with the boy bouncing and the girl being left heart broken.
if he loved her and respected her and her family he would go and ask her hand in marriage before doing this, now he holds all the cards.
Honour killings have never happened i donβt expect it too tbh acid attacks on the other hand is not too far fetchedI might be exaggerating but at the rate somalia is going we might be hearing about acid attacks & honour killings.
Honor killings? Doubt it? Simply isnβt part of our culture. For that to become a common occurrence, Somalis need to have a culture in which they value honor over the lives of their daughters and I donβt think they do. That wasnβt even the case historically. Even when a girl ran off with a man, families were always pretty tame in their responses compared to other ethnic groups.I might be exaggerating but at the rate somalia is going we might be hearing about acid attacks & honour killings.

If the girl keeps insisting she loves him and they are lovers, then khalas, marry them to each other. If her mother made a fake rape claim, she needs to go to prison. Or pay a huge fine, if the boy and his family accept money instead of jail time.
Finally, these two should be lightly whipped and then married to each other. What's the point of this circus?
More details on the story. Interviewed: boy's father, girl's relatives, police officers engaged in the case.
The Romeo is 17, and Juliet is 16. They were neighbours, grew up together, desired each other, and their families are related.
A case of a Romeo of minority extraction falling for Juliet of gentry circles. According to the boy's father, it boils down to a tiff grounded in previous vendetta between the two families. Remarkably, from I could gather, this must not be an issue, for the boy's father states he is of Madhibaan, albeit his maternal relatives are of the same as the girl's, and related. Surely, an aspiring thespian playwright could draft a fine, slothful, and lustful play.
Not even that, which is remarkable, as we seem to have come a long way, unless of course I misunderstood the father, in which case, mea culpa. So it's not a case of Madhibaan discrimination.
