She's not a dead ringer. Her skin though brown is too swarthy. She has narrow features but slightly more of a Semetic look. And her lips are thin (that overlaps better with Habeshis). I would say Sudanese. Not Somali. We also do not commonly have a widows peak.

You're not wrong to associate us. Yes, there is a difference and they have a lot of more recent Egyptian, Arabian and Nilotic admixture but there is a still sizable Cushitic-related core in their ancestry and a lot of the ancestry in their more recent admixtures is similar to what's already in Somalis.

You just get a fair number Sudani Arabs, Bejas and Nubians who look rather Nilote, Arabian and Masri shifted in a way you never really see in Somalis due to these more recent admixtures but there is still considerable overlap and similarity. And we are both from Northeast Africa, have very similar historical cultures that were in trade contact and, not to mention, Horners are literally Neolithic Sudanese migrants.

No one would be misguided to associate our groups. Misguided to act like we're the same? Yes. But related and similar? No.

North Sudanese were mostly stationed in the capitals as administrators and teachers in addition to being merchants when the British officially combined the two halves of Sudan in 1947.

There are many galbeed somalis who have her looks and I've seen some somalis who have widows peak and thin lips. In fact I got a second cousin who has a pronounced widows peak. But I have to agree with you cause when you also add the fact that her eyes are also slightly bigger, that's too many features not found in a typical Somali.

I don't think they wanted to deal with unruly, violent pastoralists; we didn't officially surrender to the British until the 1930s -- when the British air force was used on us; we took pride in dropping British Officials in the Nile whereas the Ugandans would carry them on their backs.
