When have I ever denied climate change? What i'm saying is to not blindly put your faith into solar and wind energy. I don't understand why these so called climate activist never promote nuclear, geothermal, hydro, and carbon capture technology. The answer to climate change is reducing consumption of goods that you don't necessarily need. Like not buying a new phone each year or not engaging in fast fashion, etc. Also, governments/corporations building nuclear, geothermal, hydro, and carbon capture technology this will help fight climate change better than just solar and wind.

I could fully unpack what you wrote and we could go into a back and forth but its pointless.

Instead, I will share this....

According to a recent study by the African Development Bank, Somalia has the highest resource potential of any African nation for onshore wind power and could generate between 30,000 to 45,000 MW. Solar power could potentially generate an excess of 2,000 kWh/m2.

Yes, environmentalists are the biggest set back to Somalia drilling for oil right now.

Re-read what you just said.

It is, in the sense that the abandonment of petroleum energy as a result of environmentalism will lower the cost of oil - hindering potential profits.

So you're not going to blame Somalis for fighting each other for three decades instead of taking advantage of their petroleum deposits while the market was hot.

Instead you are going to blame environmentalists for listening to the scientific consensus on climate change and lobbying their politicians to do the same.

Has it occurred to you that people are abandoning petroleum because it is harmful, a finite resource and we have the technology to generate energy without it.

Don't blame others for Somalia and its citizen's ineptitude.

I value Somalia's well-being more than some green party that two-faced countries advocate for and it just so happens that its petroleum deposits are the most effective way in creating income.

That's subjective.

You can value Somalia's wellbeing higher than everyone else in the world but still propose solutions detrimental to Somalia's wellbeing.

Your value means jack shit, it's not tangible.

What is tangible is the effects of climate change and Somalia as an impoverished tropical country has experienced some of these effects.

Bro, I said earlier in this thread that I agree with that.

My point is that one can support drilling oil in Somalia and agree that we should not rely on oil as well as recognising the numerous environmental issues.

As shown on this thread, these two users routinely blame everything on environmentalists. It is not the fault of environmentalists that Somalia is missing the train on petroleum, its our fault.

from 1960-90 we had "hala shaqeeyo" "ururada shaqaalaha" "beeraha ha la falo". but the populace are as lazy as gulf arabs. our priority should have been to extract oil and import migrant workers. because we are lazy mofos. we kinda missed out on that.

That's because during most of this period, Somalia was a communist country and that was the norm for communist countries in that time period.

Even the SYL government was probably influenced by the agricultural and worker policies in China and USSR, as each country thought they could better implement the other countries failures.

socialists/leftists were kicked out of syl and aden adde soon after became head of syl. but leftism/socialism/communism were still around because it was the cold war. since 1960 it took around 60 years to gather funds and find the balance between development gobol and caasimad. only the oil countries did it quickly.
