It is nice aabo didn't hit you but scaring is not a good.

It is better when kids do the right thing because they understand why they should, not because they are scared of their hooyo or aabo

Imo spanking is needed, not as the first resort but the last. First you got to reason with your child why x was wrong because of y. If that doesn’t work and after multiple warnings, you will get the belt. Violence is the one language everyone understands. Kids need to know not to cross a certain line.

Kids will not be perfect, they must be molded. You have to be intelligent about it. If you spank your child all the time, he/she will resent you. If you don’t, you will get walked over, I have seen this with my own eyes.

I'm all about positive reinforcement. It is the best way to correct kids when they are not listening imo. They lose some privileges like movie time or not go swimming that weekend..

Yes. Reward good behaviour, punish bad behaviour. It teaches them that there are consequences for their actions. Physical discipline would be a last resort however for very bad behaviour and even then nothing severe. Violently beating kids isn't even permissible Islamically.

Auodhubillah, where you getting sex and drugs from? We are talking about children here. My idea of being a supportive parent is more about pursuing their interests like art, sports etc

I would discipline my kids but a good smack or pinch tbh, or the occasional daacas I’ve always found people who beat their children with sticks, extension cords and whips to be barbaric. Imo that’s a sign of low intelligence something many Somali parents carry.
