Back in the 1970s Somalias then dictator M. Siyad Barre was warned by both friends and foes to not invade Ethiopia but he did it anyways which resulted in major superpowers like the USSR backing Ethiopia and this has led to not ultimately the defeat of Somalia army but also has caused the fragmentation of Somalia as a nation.. Now with Russia we can see some similarities so my question is will this eventually be the end of Russia if the decide to invade Ukraine?

No, Russia will most likely confine its incursion operations to the Russian dominated regions of Ukraine -- regions that will receive them without opposition or issue.

The Western part of Ukraine (true Ukrainians) will be utterly devastated and neutralised with the use of long range ballistic and cruise missiles.

Russia is not Somalia though. Do you really think the west are going to do anything serious about the Russians taking over shitty Ukraine?

I see, but what about the consequences, Russia will face heavy sunctions from the west and also face the full force of NATO who are backing the Ukraninans. Russia have no strong reliable allies like NATO.

The SWIFT based sanctions will undoubtedly be devastating, but Russia has been preparing for this very scenario for at least a decade.

Here's an eye opening piece on the implications of sanctions on Russia:

NATO backed military measures will strictly be by proxy; Russia is the largest nuclear power and is the 2nd strongest conventional military after the United States. It is essentially invincible in a military sense.

No one is touching Russia, ever.

No nuclear armed nation will face any invasion or conflict by NATO or any strong military.

Good read sxb.. the west's domination with sanction only works on poorer and underdeveloped nations.. I read even China is looking to create an alternative for the swift system.

I can't stop laughing my ass off when they mention in the news US is accusing Russia of going to attack Ukraine under false pretext and false flag attacks.. I wonder what else country in the world has used this type of tactics to invade countries and murder millions 🤔

If they didn’t have nuclear weapons or an inhospitable environment for warfare, Russia would be much weaker.

The fact they rely on state television PR of military parades and missile launches to project strength tells you everything about their military.

They are the military personification of a napoleon complex.

The red army defeated nazi Germany.. But nowadays nazism is widespread in their ranks.. Same with Ukraine.

Let’s be honest, it wasn’t for Hitler’s shit military tactics and Russia’s harsh winter, they would’ve captured Moscow.

They were right outside Moscow and bottled it.

But I’m glad that happened lol, I don’t think history would’ve appreciated an emboldened Hitler.

Yeah the Germans were unprepared for the harsh winter and their equipment was not geared for that kinda environment.. Wasn't napoleon also defeated in kinda similar setup or is just me who remembers wrongly?

While I'm certainly not a fan of the United States, there is good reason to believe that Russia would carry out a false flag operation (s) to justify military actions against Ukraine; FSB agents were suspected of involvement in the bombings that catapulted Putin to center stage, so I wouldn't discount it.

The Russians are generally a malignant power; it's no surprise that virtually all their neighbours want absolutely nothing to do with them

The Russian military is the only true competitor to the United States and leads in a number of strategic fields today, so it's not all a product of propaganda.

Every major power tries to project strength; the United States just happens to be far more adept at this than the Russians, but they certainly engage in displays of strength and power.

Russia's military spending is close to $200 billion in purchasing power parity terms... much larger than the $65 billion dollar military figure expressed in US currency.

Yeah both of them were idiots when it came to Russia.

Nazi Germany went from being on the outskirts of Moscow with 3.8 million soldiers to being pushed back to a bunker in Berlin.

Biggest flop in history.

Russia is massive. Huge. Also extremely harsh weather conditions. No country will ever be able to invade it or put it into a corner.

No, I'm sorry but this is a myth; this fiction was conceived by Nazi Generals as a face saving measure and was uncritically accepted by Western military experts, officials, historians and audiences for decades, but it is now considered nonsense.

The Russians were simply better in strategic and tactial terms; they outfought the Germans in an attritional war that the Germans were not prepared for.

That’s what I mean by Hitler’s horrible military tactics. He was outside Moscow with over 3 million soldiers and did not expect the USSR to use this to their advantage.

It is also reported by numerous historians that Hitler refused military counsel from his generals on numerous occasions, who probably would’ve advised him about this.

When you have the largest military mobilisation in history and outside the capital, any loss is due to the incompetence of the invader not the brilliance of the defender.
