We'd be a typical African shithole but we'd be like one of those African countries you never hear about and our rep wouldn't be so bad

We'd be one of the most developed countries in Africa imo. Somalia is strategically located, has a lot of resources, access to a lot of renewable energy and Somalis are entrepreneurial. If we had a stable country in order to take advantage of African-Asian trade in the Indian Ocean we would be making bank wallahi. There's a reason why Djibouti makes so much money housing military bases

The follower and gossiper culture or the language?
I wouldn’t mind if they both left and we all assimilated into another muslim diaspora, because at least their culture of qabilism didn’t leave their nation in civil war for 30 years :ohdamn:

Somalis are already too fragmented as a community. The ones who succeed leave and only the ciyaal suuq remain. So one group will assimilate into white culture and the latter will assimilate into black culture.

How can the language survive?
Buy not leaving or moving back to somalia

It depends on where, in Europe some Somalis definitely do copy Arabs (outside of the context of Islam). Lots of Somalis learn Arabic, watch Arab media, frequently visit Arab countries. There is an influence coming from them.
It's definitely preferable to 'black culture' whatever that is.

it's already gone lol. culture and language are retained through immersion or media. There's no good somali pop culture. Everyone follows either hip hop culture or cadaan stuff or k pop.

I almost forgot speaking AF Soomaali when I was 13 since
I left Somalia when I was 10 years old I used to recite my grandmothers poetry and knew all the geerar and suugaan, it's not surprising that in a short span of period you can forget your mother tongue and completely forget it , the nature of your surroundings will replace it ,
Before I was in SA
I was refugee in Kenya for short period and cannot recall much from there but stayed almost two years in Mozambique and that age i was quickly getting used to Portuguese language until we departed finally to our destination

It was hard but
I was quickly getting used to Xhosa and English and the Somalis were small in numbers we would only meet at jummah congregation since that time we hadn't fully established a community mostly were estranged and speaking English
Interacting with somalis was like a finding a needle in a haystack
And if we do see them from the distance we used to shout "War Hebeloow Ma Barideen/ Ma Nabad Qabtaan"

That's how isolated we were

The kids were struggling , it was not until more arrivals came that we became closely attached to our dhaqan and AF

Even the mixed raced somalis re-discovered their identities

I remember these coloured people searching for Somalis and asking about Dhulbahahante and Isaaq clans people would scratch their heads and say war kuwaan why are they obsessed with these qabiils
