It is becoming less popular with larger corporations, esp. those in senior, executive, and top performing positions, trying to come up with incentives to lure personnel back to the office, yet are saving billions in rent and utilities. As contractors, BYODs (bring your own device), and BYOKs (bring your own crypto keys) were once encourage, if fashionable, but no longer so, and so shall WFH (work from home). In terms of employment terminations, first out of the door are those working remotely, unless of course one is deemed indispensable, which is no longer a model in retention strategies for corporations.

Depends on the field. Hybrid is most common at the very least for most non-service level front non front facing jobs. I'm never going back to the office again. I will only go if they are doing catering or good quality cunto. They won't dare ask me. I wish they would even ask I return on hybrid.

One more thing, our company, like many others, has since 2022 been making bonuses contingent upon turning up to the office, and with most projects being converted to agile form with onsite, in-person scrum meetings being in effect, at a minimum 3 days a week, not even in Soft. Dev. For example, a building of 9,000 capacity is averaging 500 people a day, which is rather sustainable. So, a shift of sort is being brewed in corridor of power.

My job was doing the remote thing and encouraged it. lately tho they’re really pushing for hybrid and want ppl at the office more. depends on the company tbh

Remote work was successful because most companies had strong culture from years of in person work. Now it’s slowly becoming hindarance especially for new hires who are invisible to leadership and miss out. I see it slowly going away unfortunately

Plus office politics, which is highly cliquey, is critical to advancement, where one desires vertical elevation, and without it, one hardly taps into, esp. new personnel, who are clueless as to office, organisational culture.

I must admit I did hear of Mad Men, but never caught sight of it. Office politics in the sense of access, influence, and advancement, where one could get promoted, or make a lateral move without even knowing of it whereas another could be stuck in a position for 10 years without even so much as securing his parking ticket stamped. Are you familiar with the movie 'Office space', a classic rather popular with geeks.

Here is a good example: 'putting things on top of other things', Monty Python at its finest.
