Will Madobe outlast Farmajo?

For almost 10 years we have been hearing about Ahmed Madobe’s ousting from Kismayo. Hassan Sheikh saw the writing on the wall and gave up after 1 year.

Now there’s less than a year till Farmajo is likely to leave office: will Madobe outlast him?

Depends on whether Qatar decides to get Farmaajo re-elected. If so Madoobe should do the smart thing of letting Seraar take over before making a return a few years down the line.

Farmajo has split the Gedo group and there’s now a clear divide between sub tribes. On the other hand the rest of the Jubbaland establishment is united. Bribing and imprisoning Jubbaland officials have not worked and contrary to what was expected Janan has stayed true to Jubbaland. Farmajo has spent more time on Jubbaland than any other region and more than his 2 predecessors.

Fighting Madoobe before buale is impossible.

Farmajo has to fight for Saakow then Buale then Jilib. Only then could he start to fight Madoobe. Even if he doesnt bother with Jilib, Saakow and Buale within 6-8months is just unlikely. He needs a re-election.

Farmajo controls majority of jubaland and if it were not for Kenya he would have taken the city of Kismayo

He might outlast him or not. Its quite irrelevant imo considering reality madoobe finds himself in. Jubbaland only controls Kismayo and to some extent afmadow and this is after a decade. Next president will armtwist Madoobe easily be it Farmaajo or a new president because Jubbaland lacks local support.

By local support you mean Gedo. Middle Juba will side with whoever liberates them. Lower juba sides with Madoobe. Gedo will too once Farmajos gone.

The next president will likely be quick to get supporters and will try and make friends of JL whilst pushing them away from kenya. This is if Sharif and co. (Mucaarad heads) remove him.
