If the SL government is smart they will use the savings to diversify their energy sources and develop renewable energy capacity.
It best not to even poke the bear, Europe still regrets the Russian pipelines. You have solar, wind geothermal, wave and tidal power to work with, really even one medium size project could feed the half of Somalia

And we're making good use of it.

With more of these dams being built in the next few years we'll be water independent. While southern Somalia will continuously be in danger of having their rivers dry up.

This fucker is bragging about a small rain water storage that didn't cost more than 100k in a thread about the one of the largest gravity dams in the world. Nacalaa kugu yaal alla xishoodka kaa qaad

I'm not bragging about anything.

Take your trolling elsewhere if you're not going to have anything constructive to say.

Yea back down like a . There was absolutely no reason to inject the nonexisting roles sland and somalia could play in this geopolitical standoff

The video talks about how the Egyptians plan to use Somalis to destabilize Ethiopia and I'm talking about how it's in Somaliland's interest to side with Ethiopia over Egypt in this situation.

You can discuss how this policy is wrong like the other posters instead of trying to shut the entire discussion down with your trolling.

It's best to have a diversity in energy sources. Renewable energy isn't that reliable right now to have it as the country's only source.

So smacking down your pathetic attempt at making sland relative in this sensitive issue is trolling? There was no need to throw sland into the equation whatsoever aside from lunacy. So because the video mentioned ONLF, which is very relevant in this case, you had to inject your clan enclave. Tell me the relevancy of Sland siding with Ethiopia? Will it make it easier for Ethiopia to reach and bomb Egypt? Perhaps sland can give them the hard needed diplomatic support. FOH

The same goes for the dreamers that said Somalia should make use of this standoff. From now on let's stick to reality and there won't be a misunderstanding

It's in Somaliland's interest to have the dam built. Many Somaliland businesses like Dahabshiil even bought bond shares to finance it's construction.

Siding with Ethiopia will prevent Egypt from having a base to destabilize Ethiopia. Somaliland's border is only a few hours away from Dire Dawa where they can cut off Ethiopia's only access to the sea.

Why does the interests of private firms like Dahabshiil affect the foreign policy of Somaliland?

Egypt already has a base in Eritrea which it can use to destabilise Ethiopia by funding rebel groups or to attack the dam(near the Sudan border). Somaliland is a useless clan enclave and their position means nothing just like in the Gulf fiasco where they sided with the UAE/Saudi but Qatar still uses their non existent airspace.

Any fighting should only be in the way of Allah. Muslims must make peace between eachother and fight a just war against the kaafirun. May Allah grant the Muslims victory and may he keep peace between them ameen!

and you think using Ethiopian power is the way to go? Renewable energy is both commercial and logically reliable, a single investment in SL region with pump thousands of jobs and contribute to economic growth of the area.

I feel like reporting but you then I realise you're trolling.

As for the dam...well...I don't think it will affect Egypt's water supply. A load of hoohaa over nothing. There will be no war alhamdullilah. Ethiopia at war is terrible for Somalia and especially for Somali Galbeed.

As a Somalilander I am siding with the Ethiopians in this case. The dam will be able to provide cheap electricity for the country.

Our water sources don't come from Ethiopia unlike in Somalia so we wouldn't be affected by any dams being built by Ethiopia on the Jubba or Shabelle rivers.
Not true bro. Hargeisa and Berbera were built on/next to rivers...
Tigray shut off those waterways.

That river originates in Somali galbeed.
Same way they built dams and shut off Shabelle and Juba rivers, periodically. It's genocide at work, but I guess that's okay as long as we have electricity for our laptops.

Those were always seasonal rivers. They fill up when it rains and it gets dumped into the sea.

Humboweyn dam at full capacity: 500,000 cubic meters

Juba river average discharge: 180 cubic meters per second.

That whole dam is 46 minutes of the flow of the Juba river. Somaliland will be uninhabitable long before koonfur dries up.
