The west africans are still dealing with the effects of colonialism as well as christianity they been mentally colonised to idealise the european's straight hair. Despite the fact not a single woman in west africa looks like that naturally so it shouldnt be a beauty standard at all. Somalia doesn't deal with this issue too much since the women wear hijab but for some reason women are still doing silk press often burning their hair even though no one gonna see it. I dont get it

Personall i think its a good thing they done this, although make an exception for older woman who lost her hair to those damaging practices already

Honestly a good thing, as well as when Nigeria banned foreign models. There’s no need import an impossible beauty standard to a country that’s literally the opposite of it. Hopefully more countries can follow or at least push realistic beauty initiatives
