Why wasnt NFD taken back

NFD was going to get invaded after Ethiopia, Soviets put a stop to all of that. They have a pact that if ones invaded the other will join in the effort to repel Somalia.

Also unlike NFD, Soomaali Galbeed is deep within Soomaaliweyn, it was also a strategic liability for Somalia if it remained under Ethiopian rule, and is home to all qabiils except Raxanweyn. It contains a lot of resources too. Ethiopia was also very unstable and it was the most convenient time and place to invade.
