Why The Road Block in Gaalkacayo Started & Remain

For those of you that don't know, the blockade is a recent thing, just a few months old, understanding why it's there and reinforced is critical and as always you follow the money.

The answer is Mogadishu, the heavy Turkish investments and containers have literally shaken up the entire country and particularly how business is now conducted.

It's a 40x cheaper to use them to import stuff then your average none-container ports like Bosaaso/Kismaayo that cannot carry anything close it, the bigger the ship & container sizes, the more products can be loaded and the cheaper it becomes for everybody (business people and consumers alike)

The smart business people in P/land saw this trend and adapted, they began to use them, but as a result of this it had a domino affect on Bosaaso, it was no longer being used by much of the country for heavy stuff anymore because its more expensive due to lack of containers , but now even their business man were abandoning it.

As a result of this Gaas did what would appear at least on the surface to be a smart thing, introduced complete blockade in Gaalkacayo so nothing can come from Xamar anymore forcing business people within P/land to use Bosaaso port and also the population to buy from them, this is of course classically dressed up as Al-shabab threat.

The problem is that now the residents in P/land are paying almost 4x the prices for everything, while Gaas has allowed his business people to still use Mogadishu to sell to other Somali's for cheaper, while blocking trade the other way.

Remember always follow the money, this lobbying for the blockade has come from the top elite business people in P/land whom own a lot of containers in Mogadishu, I have the names of over 40 right now.

I am currently working on a report to expose them and pass them on to a contact in the government to use it against them, essentially banning them from business in Xamar if they continue to support this blockade which not only sends a nasty precedence but is causing a lot of pain and suffering to the consumers in P/land whom are the greatest losers here.

@Canuck

I was speaking to Dhullo business man and he was telling me they switched to Berbera as a result of Gaas decisions, literally putting money in the pockets of tuugo secessionist government and soon UAE parasites, because otherwise they can't compete.

The latest craze is the Turkish products in Somalia particularly home designs, they need big containers to make it even worth wile importing, selling at reasonable prices to consumers and make a profit on it, the only way it's possible for them right now is using Berbera because of this.

@Boqor Geeljire252

This closure is hurting their consumers only, their business elites whom lobbied gaas for this blockade are still using Xamar containers to sell to other Somali's, they are in fact making more money then before, but of the back of P/land consumers paying 4x the prices.

This is mafia like stuff, this blockade has no affect on the other Somali's, everyone just rents containers for bigger stuff that comes via Xamar and as for the little things like shidaal and other items they come via Hobyo, including cars.

Only the PL citizens will suffer iys up to them to kick him out, this shouldnt concern Galgaduud, Mudug or Koonfur

They will suffer during a period of drought and famine. Not the best situation.

This road block will actually help Hobyo grow as a port and expose it to other markets.

Reer Hiiraan have already switched to using Hobyo.

It works out better for puntland cause most hawiye will go do business in xamar instead of exporting their terror to puntland as a puntlander I commend Gaas it's a good move that will keep out the unwanted human bombs.

Your post made me laugh, horta don't take fadhi ku dirir serious dude, we are all related one way or another, what sows discords are the elitist on all sides and the dumb dupes that fight for their causes.

It's like those people marching against Trump no idea what they are marching about, or those hoarded on busses for the Arab spring or other Western colour revolutions, duped into serving the agenda of others.

In the end none of them care about the people, neither does Gaas nor the now deposed Guleed, this current deal screws the people of P/land no one else and it makes the elites richer and the citizens poorer, no one else is suffering, they have hatched this plot for their own benefits.

So yes the report I am writing compiling all the names of their elitists to apply this pressure I see as helping other Somali's, because if I ignore this and think let them rot, those elitist will get richer and the ramifications in the end will hurt us all in many ways.
