Why should we resepct colonial borders?

I believe that countries who have been screwed over by their current borders have every right to act, either diplomatically or militarily to gain their land back. Under what objective basis is colonial borders the law that we have to abide by? This is a new concept that neve existed in history. Additionally, accepting such borders means accepting a remnant of colonialism, and as such, can you really then say that you are free? These borders and lines have caused endless conflicts across the world BECAUSE they were made to divide and conquer. The only reason it is part of the AU charter and other organizations is because the West want to control us. Why do you think Israel, who don't have a legal claim to even a single Palestinian village, is able to expand into the entire British Mandate of Palestine AND be able to annex or occupy lands from other countries? Yet, if Somalia were to invade Ethiopia tommorow, they would get sanctioned to hell (same w Russia invading ethnically Russian eastern Ukraine + Crimeria WHICH they have a rightful claim to). The double standards are insane

If Somalis in Ethiopia voted themselves out of the country, which is entirely legal, and then Ethiopia rejected it, going against their laws, the people have the right to pick up arms, the Somalis of other regions could help out. This would place Somalis to seem optically in the right, even to the West.

The question you should ask is, why is it that those Somalis today have not formally tried to even do that? Do they even want to split from Ethiopia? What's the point of fighting on behalf of folks who don't want it?

The political leadership among them is totally under the wing of the central government. Such sellouts will make it their mission to suppress any revolt and even gain material support from the state. Then they are going to frame it in ideological language where the Somalis that want to break off are fighting against other Somalis to invite carnage and instability, firstly directed at other Somalis in the Galbeed to pollute their cause.

Another issue to think about is that Ethiopia is Ethiopianizing the region. If you search for names of Somali cities, it have a broken Ethiopian name. They are already decentering the Somali character. Google every city and you'll read an Amharic pronunciation of its original name. The blatant attempt here is non-Somali-centered, exonymic influence. This is to reconfigure the region's cultural landscape to be a vague Ethiopian one.

Might makes right. Look at Rwanda running free in the Congo supporting and protecting the Tutsis while also benefiting. No "major" sanctions.

The current international borders exist as part of the post-WW2 order that tries to ensure that a status quo of peace can be maintained. Of course that is only on paper and the fact of the matter is we have countries like Russia, India, Pakistan, Morocco and more that have seized or annexed territory as part of their geopolitical aims. In Somalia's current state, it would be extremely unwise to invade Ethiopia or any of our neighbors as it would be seen as the blatant aggressors and unlike Russia or Morocco, Somalia does not have the economy or political connections to weather the consequences.
