Between me and my Somali brethren, none of us are married. There is no shortage of women to marry (for us at least) so I thought why this is the case.
I then look around my Cadaan colleagues and notice a stark difference. What these Cadaan guys do is that they mostly have a GF but they split the costs down the middle. This gives them numerous advantages when it comes to disposable income and mortgages etc
Meanwhile living costs have gone up to an insane level for all the major European cities Somalis reside in (London, Torronto, MN etc) This means that a two person household is a must rather than an option unless you are rich.
Meanwhile in the Muslim circle we have the popular viral narratives "His money is my money", "I want to be a housewife" "Be a provider" etc and men see that but quickly realise the economics and society wouldn't allow it even if they would like to do that. So the next option is just don't get married until you are financially successful & that means a severe delay which is not good for the women.
Some Muslim communities have weird traditional quirks that naturally combat this such as the South Asian community where the wife lives with her in laws aka all in the same house to save. Gulf Arabs have the state pay the wedding and home for them etc I already said how the Cadaan system goes so my question is what can Somalis come up with to solve this?
