Everywhere I go there’s Somalis claiming to be mixed. The other day I was in a tiktok comment section and every other person was claiming to be half somali half balayo.

Mixing with other races/ethnicities will probably happen more and more it's just a product of globalization. We no longer live in our small isolated tuulo's where our next door neighboor is only another Somali.

I think that internet meme is a very exaggerated.
Because i know some legitimate Yemeni-Somali mixes and sometimes involves Somalis mixing with more dark skinned Yemenis. To a lot of us those halfies appear to look full Somali but in reality they aren't. So we are quick to try to call BS on them and think there is some self hate or denial involved.
So people are not necessarily lying about being half-yemeni. I don't know why anyone would. Somalis i have seen that are Arab mixed will confidently claim both their Arab or Somali side.
Usually from what i have observed they feel more closer to their Somalis side for one reason or another.
I have never met a Somali-Yemeni family. I have heard they used to live in Mogadishu ages ago. I have met a few people with great grandmother that is Arab. I am not talking about shaansiyo iyo barawani.

The few i was speaking about are not from Mogadishu or the Southern coast area at all and are first generation mixes either from abroad in the diasporic west or in Arab countries like Yemen or Northern migrant prior to the civil war.
If you rank the most common Somali mixes with other ethnicities it would be probably Yemeni at the top due to our proximity with them and sharing a religion. Aside from Oromo - Somali mixes of course.

There is no trend of full blooded Somali girls in any part of the world claiming to be half yemeni at any date in time.But yeah i say this only because i stand witness to how i've seen genuine half yemenis been accussed of lying by other Somalis when they are not and this is not just Half yemeni girls but even half Yemeni Somali boys. It is hella annoying for them though lool.

Somalis and yemenis are not very different at all. Are cultures are pretty similar and we share a religion. Please inform yourself , before you try to argue with someone.
And inividual Somalis and Yemeni still intermarry here and there. There is nothing to make a big deal about or exaggerate.
