The EU just condemned the murdered of 6 detainees sentenced to death by Somaliland’s kangaroo courts

“While the death sentence was carried out in accordance to Somaliland law the European Union delegation in Somalia said that it was deeply saddened by the execution of 6 detainees in Somaliland.

A statement released on the 28th November 2020 by the delegation said in part “The EU holds a principled position against death penalty and is opposed to the use of capital punishment under any circumstances (full statement below)”

It turns out Somaliland is still using Somali Penal Code 1962 which is nearly identical to the Italian Penal Code of 1930.

You’re willing governing yourselves using Somalia’s laws, which were adopted from Italian colonial laws, but get triggered if you see any combination of blue and white. :mjkkk::mjlol:

Honestly who gives a shit about the EU being "deeply saddened". If we are to just give out statements on the affairs of other places, then I a representative of Somaliland am deeply saddened by the treatment of Muslims in France, a member of the EU.

The man that feeds you controls you. The EU gives millions in aid money to Somaliland so when they make a statement, they mean business. When Somaliland tried to execute a Norwegian citizen last weekend Norway issued a statement condemning it and the execution was cancelled.

I get that norway would stand up for it's citizens, but why is thd EU so concerned about 6 somali criminals? I really doubt they are saying this out genuine concern for the death penalty

Probably because there was a miscarriage of justice. The same day a young man was executed while the man he allegedly committed a crime with was released due to clan ties. It’s also come to light that politicians and rich businessmen have escaped punishment for crimes such as murder and rape. The Somaliland judicial system is a joke. You’re convicted by clan and nothing else.

“Guddoomiyaha guddiga xuquuqul insaanka Somaliland Maxamuud Baaruud oo warbaahinta kula hadlay magaalada Hargeysa ayaa sheegay inay jiraan siyaasiyiin iyo ganacsato lagu helay inay geysteen kufsi, kuwaas oo la iska sii daayey.

Waxa uu sheegay in dadkaas xabsiyada looga siidaayo in uusan ku dhicin xukun maxkamadeed, halka dadka danta yar ee aan laheyn cid u dooda loo maxakamdeeyo dembiyada ay galeen, sida uu sheegay guddoomiye Maxamuud Baaruud.”

Even presidential protocols.

They keep their people preoccupied by crafting an identity based on victimization while in every way that matters Somaliland is a part of Somalia. Who cares about a flag when your laws are Somalia’s laws?
