Why is somalia considered SSA?

technically speaking, majority of the country is not below the Sahara. And we don’t have a lot in common with SSA countries. Somalia isn’t an artificial country majority of the country speaks the same language, religion and people. Food wise we are also different, most Africans eat fufu while we don’t. I think somalia and maybe Ethiopia should not be placed in sub Saharan Africa

Somalia is furthest away from North Africa than all of the region's countries like Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Sudan, South Sudan, and likely Kenya. I get it sxb we are below the Sahara but do u know why this definition exists? It’s because the Sahara was a barrier between north and Southern Africa. The Sahara was never a barrier for us. We’ve had extended contact with arabia, india, europe and even China during antique times. Most subsahrans have recently made contact with non Africans, most notably Europeans in the 1700-1800s. I mean Senegal is technically is not ssa but they are included because they are black

We a literally sub saharan though, we are below the Sahara desert.

Nigeria has northing in common with madagascar but they are both "sub saharans."
The problem is the term itself which is made to divide Africa between the northern "brown" and the sub saharan "black"

Yes there are many sudanese who's grandparents didn't speak Arabic. It was gradual migrations as well as sudanese leaders themselves who considered themselves Arab and pushed Arab culture and language despite themselves being the most black skinned nubian.

We have to watch out for these yellow eyed pseudo-madows in the south who think they're Arab, Somalia is doomed if they take power.
