Why is our architecture so ugly

So i was just scroll through my feed and saw this garowe project. Almost every estate project looks like this. Granted it's not fully finished but we all know what it's going to look like. My question is, do we not have anybody who understands aesthetics in somalia. Why are they incapable of building a beautiful home. It's always an ugly copy of a modernist house. Looking at what the Italian or the old coastal homes before that look like. You can't help but think why does everything being built today look like slop.

Man you niggas hate on everything how is this ugly 😭😭😭
Because it looks so basic! If you've been to Somalia, you'll realise how there is no uniqueness to the buildings. Everyone has exactly the same brick on the ground. When you walk in it's always painted ugly, plus they use LED lights like they're a teenager's bedroom:mjkkk:

It looks okay but the colours like yellow are an eyesore. It should be fully white.

I might have been slightly harsh. Most people myself included have no real sense of aesthetics but we recognize things that look like nice. If somalis tradtitonal craftsmen were involved in the process we would probably be getting much nicer looking buildings. You see this with traditional somali textiles which look amazing.

We need prooer architects who can revive proper somali architecture and blend it with modernism not this fake looking crap and I can guarantee if they do it this way its nore cheaper and aesthetic

I don’t see the issue. The colouring might be off but there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the structure itself

I will say this is not just a somalia problem. All of africa is like this. Ours is probably in the middle if I had to be honest.

That's not Garowe, looks like an isolated estate in some random place based on the caption it says Galkacyo which i doubt. It's not a neighborhood urban planned project either, why add Dar Salaaam to it. What a weird post.

Garowe has a neighborhood /mini city urban project aka Xafaad and they don't look like that , especially the colours (most are just plane white colours) and the buildings differ, they are not exactly only multiple story estates but single story , chain houses, facilities, streets, shopping centers, parks, mosques, schools etc

There is a thread on this
Not really completed yet

This is how it's meant to look like once it's completed

One of the near completed houses/estates in line with the images you see above

Here is another side of the Xafaads in Garowe but not really completed yet either, no weird coloured buildings or fancy architecture either. You can see some of the public buildings and car parking spots and gates

Yes lets misrepresent Somalia by posting single random unrelated places that has nothing to do with Garowe the Puntland capital . Do better, instead of trying to despretately poke holes.

Also to add to my post above, someone building a random building/estate in a random plot of land they bought before it , is very different from an urban planned neighborhood by local planning authorities where they commission to build property before hand after planning the division between private and public space and people buy the homes after completion or have a share/stake in it.

Like the Garowe project

Nothing ugly about this, but they should stick to neutral colours like beige and white, and if they go the flamboyant route, then they have to do it consistently in one specific area and nowhere else, see;

Somalia needs to sacrifice one specific city or town where all the colour bandits and Red rooftop terrorists can be sent while the rest of the country prospers with world class designs and neutral colours.
