Why is it called Ogadenia and not Absamia?

Ogadenia or Ogaden is what the British called it, many Somalis before 91' called it Somali Galbeed (because we viewed it and still view it as a part of Somalia)

Anyone can personally call it whatever they want but according to the Gov in Addis Ababa, Dawlada federaalka Itoobiya it's called Dawlad Deegaanka Soomaalida

Because even before colonialism, it was called Carro Ogaadeen hence why the British called it Ogaden. Just like we called S/land Carro Iiddoor and P/land carro Majeerteen.

Somaliland = Carro Madaxweyne Dir and Puntland = Carro Harti.

"according to the Gov in Addis Ababa" Since when did we care about anything coming out of 4kilo? :russ: Anything to do with the Ethiopian state is immediately disregarded. :comeon:

All jokes aside, the latter is the most common term used, or at least from what I've observed, together with Kililka 5aad. Including amongst my Ogaden relatives. Somali Galbeed is becoming less and less used, and mostly limited to when we speak to Somalis outside of DDS.

It is Somali Galbeed, it is part of Somalia fighting an eternal struggle against the Amxaars and TPLF.

No shit, I thought that was already obvious. :mahubowtf:

As if we (in DDS) haven't fought them enough, and won't certainly quit anytime soon. Maybe not so much physical fighting anymore. Indeed will it sometime in the future be part of the "complete Somali nation". :fittytousand:

But I was referring to what term people over there, most commonly use. And it's either DDS or K5. It's even getting more popular among non-DDS Somalis, then S. Galbeed. :kanyeshrug:

They reign supreme over us. Let's not joke about disregarding such a thing :damn:

I agree though šŸ‘

Let's be realistic there won't be such thing as a "complete Somali nation" I can't speak for other clans but my clan and neighbours, Ciise, Samaroon and Isaaq will be taking their land to add to Djibouti, Awdal, Waqooyi Galbeed and Toghdeer, respectively. :francis:

Heeeeeeey, let us dream for once. I don't even think we'll be able to get rid of Ethiopia to begin with :deadrose:

In all honesty, I'm afraid that it will be the case, as you're suggesting if we indeed become independent, against my personal wish. (Depending on if SL is recognized, otherwise if Somalia is still intact, there are other options).

But actually dividing it after clan territory, together with separating western DDS borders with Oromia and Afar, will cause enough hurdles and even close to impossible without wars. So much so that, it looks like we will head towards an independent country to avoid all these issues, should Ethiopia allow secession, in my opinion. :mjdontkno:

Hypothetically, if DDS gained freedom somehow, many clans would oppose an independent state and would rather unite with their brethren. You can already see the dysfunction and oppression by whatever DDS Admin takes power, even whilst we're under Xabashi/Oromo in Addis. We can't even get along under "Cadow" Ajnabi, we definitely won't get along when we're by ourselves.

It doesn't even matter if SL gets recognition tbf. There's a bigger chance of Somalia getting peace and staying intact than SL getting recognised. So I'm betting on SL returning to the fold sooner or later as 2 or 3 Federal states. Thus, their return will either cause DDS districts that those clans settle to either join the new Northern federal states or form new ones. That's only depending on whether SL returns first or DDS gains freedom first.

You're right. I've always said that Somalis will have the most "peace, stability, prosperity", when we either live with or are controlled by non-Somalis, even if it's relative (NFD, DJI, DDS + Diaspora).

I personally believe in Somalinimo above all, but it seems like that term is politically loaded and doesn't frankly exist. Except clan dynamics/politics, which dominates in all Somali territories, democracies and authoritarianism alike. Even if we don't like to admit it, and thus preventing us to unite/come together and achieve anything together.

That seems like the most viable option. Well to add on it, I believe, in that case that new federal states will be created along existing DDS regions (or possibly based on historical regions) for the most part. For instance Fafan region possibly a state by itself, due to its large population. Or form a state with Sitti or a region south of it.

My clan lives in northern Fafan* in Tuli Guleed, west of Gadabuursi and north of Jidwaaq, and we have good relations with both. So I don't think it be necessary to create new states along clan lines and work with what we already have (if all clans in the region agrees to it). At least my 5 cent. I don't think it will be a problem to find solutions in any such scenario.

*We technically live in Fafan, but have been wrongly placed in Oromia, despite a referendum indicating otherwise. Though, still part of & controlled by DDS. But has resulted in conflicts & therefore unfortunately don't have good ties with the clan living west of us, despite being historically close.

ldoor you have no region in SR, whether in Ethiopia or outside of it Ogaden is the head from Feefeer to Moyaale to Sitti

Ogadenia is a term that is mostly used in the areas inhabited by the Ogaden. Historically, Dire Dawa, Fafan, Sitti, sections of Jarar, Doollo and other areas were known as the Reserve Area which was ceded by the British to the Ethiopian government.
