Why is Africa turning away from the United States?

Officials in the United States look upon Africans as people “in need of help” or people who “need to be told what to do”, and this is destroying relations between Africa and Washington, according to the former African Union representative to the US, Arikana Chihombori-Quao.

“The US needs to call a timeout and treat Africans with respect,” Chihombori told host Steve Clemons, adding that the US-Africa Leaders Summit hosted by the White House this week “will fail unless Americans see Africans as equals". Chihombori-Quao argues that pan-African unity is the only path for the continent to be less dependent on outside powers

I saw this the other day. I nearly choked on my food due to her audacity. You're damn right the US will set the rules and establish the framework. Forget about the zero leverage you have, where is the competence to manage your own affairs? Where is your drive to eradicate corruption to negligible levels? Where is the maturity to transform into democracies and away from old men who came to power through coups decades ago? Why are your institutions of very low quality or nonexistent? Why do you have zero food security? Why is Africa full of low trust societies? Where are the government services for your people?

What a foolish, conceited woman with nothing but dirty cloth rags to show for. Africa cannot be considered an equal partner or even a junior partner. They cannot play in the big boy's sandbox. People like her are not champions of Africa. Africans do not respect or appreciate authority or order, which explains its pathetic state. They are not the victors, they are humanity's biggest losers and they are not to speak against the West's interests, or their now Russian or Chinese pimps for that matter, if they want their aid, which has foolishly not even been subject to conditions since their so called independence. Have these people gone mad? How are people who rely on the West for their very survival in any position to make a single demand? The YouTube comments, all from Africa, cheering her on is also insane. Unbelievable. People no longer have any shame.

The statement you provided is filled with offensive and baseless generalizations about Africa and its people. It is not accurate or fair to make sweeping statements about an entire continent and its diverse countries and cultures.

The statement also perpetuates harmful stereotypes about Africa being a poor and backward region that relies on the West for aid and is unable to manage its own affairs. This is not true and ignores the many successes and progress that have been made in Africa.

Furthermore, the statement suggests that Africa should not have a voice or agency in global discussions and should simply accept the rules and frameworks established by the West. This is a condescending and disrespectful attitude and does not acknowledge the value and diversity of perspectives that Africa brings to the table.

Overall, the statement is deeply misguided and perpetuates harmful biases and stereotypes about Africa and its people. It is important to recognize and challenge these types of prejudices and instead strive for a more understanding and respectful global community.
