Why HSM is so insistent with EAC union

We know full well that this league is pointless, Whereas a horn league (I exclude Djib 🇩🇯 because it's a useless country in my opinion and France's lapdog) would be very beneficial.

There’s an economic benefit in joining the EAC a 400 million people market with a much better purchasing power then the Horn of Africa you gotta look at it from that perspective

What if Ethiopia won't join EAC? 🤣
They can but they don't want to in an ideal situation (for them at least) beacuse they can't throw their weight around and dictate terms as easily. You already know how xaasid these people are, look at how they move in their people in the SR and give them government jobs but the opposite in other ethnic lands would never happen. Why do you think somalis invest in their money in Nairobi instead of addis.

It seems to be a case where EAC wants Ethiopia to be part of them, but Ethiopia isn't interested 🤣

In this day and the only way to get favourable trade deals is to join a multinational organisation where you have more leverage than you would on your own, why do you think a lot of those laangaab countries in europe all joined the EU. They knew they'd be screwed over by trade deals with China, U.S. or Russia (especially Russia for the eastern european countries).

A country like Somalia pretty much has no leverage at the international stage, that's why the chinese can get a way with paying a pittance for the fishing license. You know who's worse than the chinese though? The europeans like the spanish who essentially is fishing the place like there's no tommorow, while pretending to be there on duty to protect the shipping lanes against pirates.

True. Forget about trade deals, in the context of Somalia, we are at early stages of a state building, far behind most other countries. Having more 'established' countries in a trading bloc union would give as the head start that we really need if we play our cards right.

The other aspect you mentioned with trade deals on the international scene is secondary thoughts for now. However, we need to be careful in not being disadvantaged within EAC, so we are on equal terms and stand on our firm grounds when a certain policy is not benefitting us.
