Why have they not renovated this

Its actually crazy how many tourists go to that lighthouse, its the city's landmark and yet the government is letting is literally crumble, this could have a huge potential

Anyone know if they have any projects of renovating the place ? This is a terrible image cause the lighthouse now looks more dirty with trash everywhere and most of it collapsed

What’s particularly interesting something I only learned recently is that the lighthouse’s architecture was actually modeled after Sultan Osman’s castle in Bosaso. It’s a fascinating detail that ties it directly to local heritage.

It really is unfortunate that it hasn’t been renovated yet, along with its surroundings. Honestly, I’m not sure why that hasn’t happened.

Is there a source for this ?

Because there is very little central planning. From what I can see, most of the country building is privately funded. People build their own establishments, stores and houses. The government itself doesn't do much.

I want to see cities rebuilt with grander versions of our old architecture. Even italian colonialists, hailing from a country known for its architecture here in Europe, thought ours was beautiful.

To be honest they've renovated tons of things around xamar, all the main monuments have been renovated

They also rebuilt others like Hawo tako monument, if they did all of this what prevents them from fixing the lighthouse ? 90% of the tourists that go xamar visit that lighthouse and take pictures on the nasty beach, not these monuments

If they wanna show a new image to the world this is essential

Ethiopia and Brazil understood this by making the roads that Tourists were most likely to use super clean and beautiful, abiy built a whole empty museum on the airport road and in the city center main road, rio de janeiro has roads going underground and walls hiding slums

Its all about image, if you want people to invest in your economy and future you have to prepare a clean and hospitable environment, literally all countries do this

Interesting. Do you know when these monuments were built? If it was recently, then they might be doing it in order.

Knowing these mooryans, they must think that statues look more impressive so they focus on that :dead:
