The arabian nights was a book made during the "islamic golden age" that compiled over 200 middle eastern tales.

"A famous collection of Persian, Indian, and Arabian folktales. Supposedly, the legendary Scheherazade told these stories to her husband the sultan, a different tale every night for 1,001 days; therefore, the collection is sometimes called The Thousand and One Nights."

"Stories From 1001 Nights. While various versions and many new editions have expanded the number of tales, the original Persian version of the 9th-century only had around 200 tales, which includes full stories, fairy tales, poems, anecdotes, parables, and fables.7 Apr 2022"

Somalis alone have many more stories and especially poems that can be compiled in such a manner. if someone's crazy enough they could make one with stories from all around the Horn.

Tbh the Arabian nights are a collection of stories from every part of the Islamic world, itโ€™s just been appropriated by Arabs.

According to the Arabian nights, Aladdin lives in China and many stories are set in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

It got compiled during the Islamic Golden Age and then the French later added Aladdin and Ali Baba, which were originally stand alone stories, to the collection.

Im sure there are many stories that we havenโ€™t even scratched the surface of the limit.

Our old people are dying and these stories that were passed down generations are getting lost to time.

Inshallah they will be a conservation programme to keep these stories and tales alive.

The ones we have now hint at the depths of stories we have like the two brother giants or wise kings.

Yeah the name Arabian makes you think it's Arab but in reality it's originally compiled in Persian and has stories from all over.

Tbh there is a lot doubt with the origins of the Arabian nights or if the stories in the Arabian nights are even original.

The setting of the Arabian Nights describe Scheherazade telling stories to her husband, a Sassanid ruler, for 1001 nights.

Problem is that many of the stories she tells mention Caliph Harun Al-Rashid, who lived at least 200 years after the end of the Sassanid empire.

Itโ€™s like a Charles Dickens book repeatedly mentioning Covid and Barack Obama for some reason.

Yeah that's true but it's basically medieval Solomid dynasty propaganda to try tie a bunch of highlander royalty to king Solomon.
