Why don't arabs and europeans look alike?

They're both Caucasian people right? Aside from the occasional lightskinned, blue-eyed Syrian, they look noticeably different even though they belong to the same racial group. Does anyone know why? Are arabs more mixed with african or something?

Its almost like they've had thousands of of years of separate evolution to very different climates...

So that's what it is? The desert sun made arabs darker?

And quit being a smartass, this is an honest question :bell::bell:

Of course.

Arabs and Europeans don't share a common ancestral group for at least 40,000 years.

The climates and environments of the areas they live in cause them to evolve differently and hence look different.

Light skin is very recent, less than 8000 years old. It’s not like before that, Arabs and Europeans looked alike.

Did the sun make Arabs darker? No actually, the light skin mutation originated in the Middle East and was spread into Europe by Neolithic farmers. So it’s not that Arabs became darker, just that Europeans became even more lighter.

Excluding Scandinavia.

Holy shit that's a lot of time apart. Is it even right to call them the same race at this point?

Terms like Caucasoid/Caucasian are very unscientific.

Arabs and Europeans are very different.
I remember going to a Museum which was part of a large bio university and the artifacts and skulls had names like caucasoid and negroid

Before things like genetics, all they could study were skulls.

They saw small similarities between skulls and therefore grouped them accordingly.

Early European HGs had blue eyes and darker skin.
Middle Eastern Farmers brought the lighter skin gene to Europe.
By the time Steppe Indo-Europeans rolled through, Europe was already populated by fair skinned blue eyed farmers although at a lower frequency.
The Bronze Age ancestors of Northern Europeans (who are a mix of Steppe + EEF) sexually selected to have blue eyes and blonde hair which obviously caused it to go up in frequency.
