Why doesn't Turkey recognise the Armenian genocide?

It wouldn't hurt the Turkish government to at least admit that a genocide was carried out against Armenians. I watched a documentary on it and it was very shocking.

What’s up with certain demographics crying ab genocide? Armenian jews somalilanders cmon now u dont see Kurds cry? or Ogaden in galbeed? or gypsies who got killed just like the jews in the holocausto. Think some groups are hella feminine crying wont bring back your deads move on!!!!!!

Hmmm that's a good question. In fact i don't know of any country that recognized as such. I'd understand if they were usa allies but what about their adversary? In case of turkey i don't think that they have the luxury to call them out. For one turkey is part of nato and they're very dependent on the dollar. If they were to be sanctioned by the usa it's gonna be very hard for them. I think the turks don't wanna escalate and erdogan initial foreign policy was based on zero problem with other countries. Today you might see turkey being friends with the apartheid state of isreal. Turkey is even warming up to dictator bashar. I think erdogan is simply being pragmatic.

Armenians in general always sided with Turkish enemies even as far as allying with the tsars of Russia and soviets. They always started nuisance agaisnt the Turks.

Nato is an ally of the Turks solely because of the communists/ Russia threat. Armenia is an orthodox country that will always side with Russia. That’s why the west mostly stay away from the Armenian issue.

Spot on. Much like the crimean wars where western countries aligned with the ottoman empire in order to prevent the russian empire from expanding and seizing constantinople today they aligned with turkey despite them interferes with the incorporation of new nato members to prevent russia from gain a footing in turkey.

Turkey today is well aware of it's procerus situation and therefore don't aligning completely with one side. You might see turkey buy s-400 sign gas-pipe line deal with russia and ask them to build a nuclear power plant but simultaneously oppose them in the ukrainian conflict and the syrian conflict and sides with the usa instead. Erdogan is smart enough to not lean to one side while maximizing his gains from both sides. Most likely if it wasn't for russia turkey wouldn't matter much for the western countries.

Armenia on the other hand only has russia that they can relay on and when they tried to side with the west russia didn't interfere in the azerbaijani conflict until azerbaijan took back most of the land they lost to armenia many years ago.
