Why doesn't Somaliland claim it's the successer of Somali republic, like Taiwan?

No, we offered assistance many times but the Arta Conference in 2001 changed all that.

We are independent already, Somalia has no power in Somaliland stop living in fantasy accept it and move on. we won't relinquish any authority or give an inch and neither will you so talks are pointless..

Somalia has “no power” over Jubaland, so no shit. And it depends how you define “power” anyway, do you mean SNA are not in Somaliland? For now, sure. But right now Somalia has a seat at the UN, that’s all the power they need. And Somaliland wouldn’t be begging somalia and foreign bodies for share of aid money and scholarships if Somalia truly had zero “power”

don’t understand why you folks are so proud that a government that barely controls Mogadishu has currently no impact in Somaliland. That’s changing rapidly, and while your desert enclave remains in a standstill the FGS is only getting stronger.

His statement is absolutely correct - Somalia has no power in Somaliland.

Independence is the most important thing. Somaliland has had that for over 30 years.

just because you say your independent, doesn't mean you are. By your definition, almost every region in somalia outside mogadishu has been "independent" for 30 years.

You don’t even know why the north declared independence it did so because
the Snm initially refused to accept the legitimacy of the provisional government that the Usc had established but in march 1991 the SNM's former leader Ahmed Silaanyo proposed a power sharing framework between the SNM and usc under a new transitional government.
The usc started splitting and the south descended into chaos afterwards the garaad proposed the idea of independence the snm agreed and did so on 18 may its still unrecognised till present time

Your not aware of the past events what your saying is clan motivated and above all delusional educate yourself

You don't have a clue what you are trying talking about. The qabiilist trash you were forcefed does not constitute history.

Somaliland's declaration of Independence is available everywhere and it has nothing to do with your revisionist bullshit qabiilist history.

I agree!

The southern cities are too beautiful and historical to bombed on a daily basis everyday, especially Mogadishu holds deep history. They need a break and Al-Shabaab then can finally leave Mogadishu alone because it isn’t the capital anymore.

the south has lost too much at this point in terms of historical buildings, health ground & honour.

This would give somaliland more international trade access and legitimacy.
Isaaqs have the control of 48 seats in Somalia's parliament under Mahe Dir umbrella. They can utilize this power
Because they don't believe in Somali unity. Taiwan doesn't technically want to separate, their official position is that they are the legitimate government of all of china and they consider mainland Chinese as their compatriots occupied by communism. Somalilanders don't see other somalis as their compatriots, some of them don't even consider us as being their fellow somali brothers. The official policy of Somaliland is anti- Somalia and anti anything related to Somalia or the former Somali Republic

This thread reminds me of the Rudyard kipling poem the white man's burden.

Essentially you guys are saying us isaaq are undoubtedly the superior clan when it comes to governance and dhaqan and that we should have accepted our paternal burden back in 91 and not abandoned you all to the care of hawiye/darod
No. We are saying that somalis are one people and that we should help each other. You can't compare Isaaq and Darood/Hawiye relationship with whites vs non whites during colonial times.
We somalis tried to liberate our people in Ogadenia because they are our brothers, in the same way the more stable Somaliland could have helped the south out of Brotherhood and patriotism. Unfortunately somalilanders never felt any kind of allegiance to the somali people

This would be based.

Also, I would love to see Somaliland and Puntland form a union as the legitimate Somali government and declare the one in Mogadishu as a pretender government.
They would never do that. Both don't care about fixing Somalia.
As a pansomalist i would accept any somali ruler. If somaliland or Djibouti annexed all of Somalia i would be happy as long as the somali nation is united

Lol, let's give dictatorial powers to an Isaaq.

Siyaad Barre 2.0 with an Isaaq in power.

From day one after the civil war the somaliland elite planned to separate, Somaliland never tried to help or even try to establish cordial relations with Somalia. Even today you treat us as an enemy.

has nothing to do with isaaq, anywhere in north would do, I prefer Galkacyo, Las canod, or some other place north without a super majority clan. Having it in an isaaq majority city would be going backwards.

Somalia is undoubtedly enemy #1 of Somaliland.
How? In the last 30 years we had basically zero relations. Your people walk freely in our country , we never discriminate you when you come to Xamar. Unfortunately we can't say the same for reer Somalia folks in Somaliland who are being persecuted

If I was to try and list the despicably low things you people have done to try and stop any progress Somaliland makes at all costs, I'd be here till kingdom come. That's not even taking into account the diabolical depths of depravity it takes to use aid money meant for famine relief, as a political weapon.

Don't play ignorant.

why is it "despicably low" to not want to break your country apart? As long as you choose that path we will stand in your way at every step, and there's nothing immoral about that at all.
