He was born in Hubat, which was one of the principalities of the Harla people. Imam Ahmed's father was the garad of Sim, which was the heartland of the Harla people. Imam Ahmed is believed to be either Harla or Balaw, according to the majority of historians and reputable scholars.

So he was either Xarla Koombe or Balaw Karanle? Both of those are Somali clans, so thanks for proving our point
