To me somalian aint that bad, I would say the real offensive term that ajnabis use is "zoo mali" because it implies that we belong in the zoo.

nah "Somalian" is a stretch if u already know for certain that we are referred to as Somali it js sounds out of place or strange to be called Somalian
think of it this way with the country of Mongolia which sounds/ends the same as Somalia but has an opposite way of referring to the people
you wouldn't call someone from Mongolia a Mongoli but you would say they're Mongolian
whereas you would call someone from Somalia a Somali but you wouldn't say they're Somalian

But in reality its going to certainly happen that someone says Somalian and its not really that crazy/ something to tweak about because more often than not randoms and most people really wouldn't know or care that much to know about the difference in pronunciation between Somalian and Somali ;lets all not go that far to making it a bigger thing than this kind of thing is.

Some internet Somalis are petty-minded people who major in minor things. I am from Somaliland and view Somalian as a Somalia national, and even I don't care if an ajnabi made that mistake. Have social tact, don't get outraged, and correct people if you feel the need to in a proper manner.

Although one guy said "Hey, Somalia" to me a long time ago, and I was low-key insulted and annoyed. Something about that did not sit right with me.

The majority of white and other ethnicites that are not around us much that I have met say Somalian first. They don't hold mallice and the average guy don't interact with incels either. That is a minor echo-chamber internet activity. So no, it is rarely attached to negatively in real life. Most people really think we are called Somalian. Then you correct them in normal fashion without feeling any type of way.

If it is used as an insult online by bums, it's the weakest, and you guys were unduly outraged, so it is used because people think they hurt you. They think you're weak. But people who hate Somalis refer to you in much stronger terms, where the word Somalian is benign, totally irrelevant and comes with a set of text that is way more insulting. Focusing on Somalian then becomes misplaced.
