Why do some Somalis do this to themselves?

Take a look at this; https://x.com/thebhlub/status/1982156869222232540?s=46&t=_EI-jhoodk5WOZLjYStVLA

Why do some Somalis insist on sharing Somali affairs to the whole world? Why do they insult and belittle Somalis in front of foreigners, as if they are not Somali themselves?

The way I see it, this is the end result of tribalism. You guys gotta be honest, they wouldn’t be doing this if tribalism didn’t exist. It gets to the point where people convince their children that they’re a completely separate people from other Somalis.

the state of Somalis is embarrassing, man. At least other countries have a reason to separate and secede, whether it’s religious or ethnic differences. But what reason do Somalis have to be so invested in secession? You don’t have any differences whatsoever to justify having your own state. And don’t try to twist my words please, I say this to everyone.

“”, Somalian” among others. All insults used by Somalis against other Somalis. It’s insanity. They won’t let me post the actual word, it’s the insult that starts with Z and rhymes with Somali.

I hope anyone who does things like this realises that foreigners do not care about you in the slightest. In fact, they’re probably laughing at you. And honestly, I don’t blame them.

If I wasn’t Somali, I would laugh at them too. It’s embarrassing.

Exactly we need to make qabil completely irrelevant it’s pathetic.

It has been bugging me since I joined this site
It’s humiliating. Somalis used to have a sense of unity and pride despite the tribalism.

Now we seem to be content with making a mess in Somalia, running away to a different country and then raising your kids with the same backwards mentality that ruined Somalia.

I know it’s just the internet, but still. It’s so frustrating watching these grown Somalis on TikTok, Twitter etc arguing and still fighting over nonsense.

The problem is it’s so deeply ingrained. People are so brainwashed that they genuinely think Qabil isn’t the problem, but Qabyalad.

It’s like asking, which came first, the chicken or the egg?

you can’t have one without the other, they’re both the same thing. So many of Somalia’s problems can be traced back to this.

I noticed this and it's annoying. That's the SNM indoctrination at work. They genuinely believe they are a different ethnicity. They were also behind that fake translation of ilhan Omar's video where they portrayed her as saying she will use her position in the US government to protect Somalia's waters and now Americans think Somali members of the government are double agents for Somalia. It's a shockingly stupid own goal. This is the level of cuqdad they have for us, they don't care if they make our lives harder which includes theirs. They have a zero sum mentality where everyone ends up getting burned and they think its going to result in recognition.

This is an unfortunate result like you said of end stage tribalism but i also believe anonymity plays a big role.

I find it hard to believe these people don’t realize their attacks harm all Somalis, not just whom they hate. They’re intelligent enough to articulate these criticisms, so they must understand the broader impact.

But anonymity removes xishood. Hidden behind profile pictures and usernames, they type things they’d never say in person. Then they go about their day, call their hooyo, and feel no shame, because online doesn’t feel real to them.

I think you’re on to something, they can’t be dumb enough to think that what they’re doing doesn’t harm all Somalis, including themselves. I just can’t imagine someone being that stupid.

They must think that it won’t happen to them. But it will.
