Why do Somalis put hijabs on little girls?

Bruh yesterday while going to the market I saw a 6 year old girl wearing a hijab :what: tf I never see this shyt with Arabs or Pakistanis it’s literally Somalis and other backwards azz Africans that make their daughters wear a hijab before their of age. It looks hella third world, parents need to stop doing this

Habit and the cultural standard, i doubt they think its actually necessary for a child to hide their awrah...the girls look so neglected. In my neighbourhood you can see the mothers of somali little girls are not taking care of their appereance by dressing them well, weather appropriate and cute. The kids just look tired and uncomfertable tbh

I thought it was a Muslim thing not a Somali thing.

Yes, children should not be forced to wear the hijab before puberty if they do not want to.

Good. Women get exploited it is a good way to teach her that she’s more than her body. It’s for her well being and safety into this world. Hopefully she will grow into it and learn to appreciate it more

That is practically child abuse. Let kids be kids, :birdman:
No, it isn't.

I have no problem with parents putting a hijab on their kids at a young age. It's not my place to ask a parent how to parent their kids. How is attire abuse?

Though I never wore a headscarf when I was young and in adulthood more out of upbringing and habit.

I wonder why people are rarely aghast when they see less attire but make a fuss out of seeing more.

To get them used to it and so they can't refuse or rebel when they become teenagers I guess.

I agree it's unnecessary.
Can I genuinely say, I never understand that reasoning when most girls if not every that has to wear at a young age, ended up resenting it and taking it off.

Vs the ones given a choice, ended up embracing it and loving it.
This is coming from what every girl I know has told me about it when they was forced and made to wear it from a young age.

I agree sister. Although it may seem off, let these parents raise they kids the way they see fit.

But a lot of these hoyoos doing it, don’t know better, and we’re raised into beileving it’s the right thing, va some I can genuinely honestly say, base it on pressure from the other mom friends.

That’s the only thing I don’t like, is when you only put it on your daughter cause the other ladies in your friends group are doing it to their children.

Beautifully said sister. But I would also like to say it can also can lead them to wearing hijab as just that.

A peice of clothing they was pressured into wearing. They don’t know the true meaning behind it.

And some weren’t raised with proper morals or decent behaviour and wear hijab with tight fitting immodest clothing. I don’t judge tho, and inshallah these girls that do that will learn better.

But I agree, we need to make modest clothing AND behaviour not something to be mocked at.

I find it weird too but only because you get some weird nonce uncles that go it is to protect the child. Like wtf how is a child wearing a hijab got anything to do with that.

Is weird to me, hijab is beautiful but they should wear it when they either go to the mosque or when going to quran classes when they're that age outside of that they shouldn't since they are children, they should begin wearing when they enter year 7 and onwards. Btw nowadays in London you see more somali chilsren not wear hijab i think this happens often in Minnesota.
