Why do Somalis insult men that help their wives?

So Im recovering from a C section with a newborn and a toddler. My husband took time off work to help me and apparently there are rumors from both my side of the family and his that I cast a spell on my husband because why else would he help his wife with the cooking and cleaning.

I have noticed in the Somali community men that help out at home and take care of children are ridiculed and relatives start inferring thinking the husband needs to be “freed” from his evil wife .

It’s unfortunate both sides of the family behave that way. That’s not a Somali issue. It’s a general ignorance amongst uninformed people. Who is telling them your husband does all this for you? Since it seems you’ve been married awhile, how is it you’re now realizing your families belittling behavior?
