Why do Somalis ignore this threat?

Some Somalis constantly go on about bantu people others about the Arabization of Somalia. Both are obviously problematic but why do we ignore Oromos who already claim a historic Somali city I.E Dire Dhabe as well as live all over the somali region of Ethiopia and Waqooyi?

Many people don't seem to realize they are closely entwined with historical enemies of the Somali people. Ex. Haile Selassie had a partially Oromo background.

Discuss.

You are right. Oromos are the silent threat. They look like us, can even talk like us but they are not us. By the time Somalis realize that Oromos are moving it will already be too late.

I think the only way to defend against this is to start expanding our borders and assimilate Oromo clans. We've done it before.

Only because they speak a Cushitic language doesn't make them genetically related to us.

Your ancestors might have mixed with them but most avoided it and kept up the honoured tradition of inbreeding.:fittytousand:

Getting back to the point of the thread...

There's literally nothing we can do about the Oromo expansion.

We need an ally in the region and I guess the Oromos and probably the Afar are the only candidates we have links to.

We just have to accept that our cities will be full of them.

On the other hand; they add to the economy and could probably marry the Bantus and take that bullet for us.

We don't need to mix with them but could somalianized them within a generation.

Oromos are threat to themselves and no one else
While this true, their large numbers and belief that they can just move to a city and it becomes their ancestral land is problematic.

Somalis aren't in a place to do that. We are struggling ourselves and don't realize how dire our situation is in general. I think recognizing this is important. They get a pass for the reasons you mentioned and I see that becoming a problem in the future.

LOL wishful thinking. They can make us them instead. They've done so to some of us already.

That was back then and it won't happen again.

Also those were small clans that changed from calling themselves Oromo or Somali every century or so.
