Why do somali guys get nicknamed for abdi?

It's just short for Abdullah in a way. "My slave" meaning Allah sees you as such.

I am talking about people who ask randoms to call them Abdi.

The Arabs usually say Abdo or Abdul instead of Abdi due to the negative connotation.

Even now I still get people saying to me "wow I've never come across a Somali named Theodore"..

I hope they stop that cycle with kids tho. I've also never met a sane Somali guy named Mohamed, they're always addicts, convicts or straight up mental. I avoid Abdis and Mohameds like the plague.

Grammatically, none of them translate into servant of Allah in Arabic.
