Why do Somali boys turn to gangs?

Its our way of honoring our brave forefathers. Gangs are the modern day qabil ,which is engraved in our DNA & culture. That's the only a farax functions properly, by repping a gang/qabil . I'd encourage every farax to join a gang and get involved in modern gangwars ,so you experience what your forefathers experienced.
Running up them opps with a shank just like my great somali forefathers caught amhara lacking

Aside from all the obvious reasons like lack of a father figure and poverty etc... People really do underestimate how school environment and friends can have a very bad influence on you. When your friend shows up with new designers every week by moving drugs, the idea of trying to do the same will always be stuck in your brain until you actually do it. And that story formula is smtn i heard for hundreds of times from Somali gangbangers on how they got introduced to this lifestyle

Even if they do live in a good area, they still end up in gangs. It depends on the individual or whether they're peer pressured.
That’s a very low chance to be honest
It all depends where you live
Majority of the Somalis who came to Europe was refugees and they lived gang/chaos areas
Their children lived among those people and got influenced by them such as gang , drug dealer or being crackhead. Those Somalis who are gang bangers/drug dealers came from those areas

However it isn’t excuse
They thought it’s cool/trendy because a lot of people they know fell off to that lifestyle and decided to join them. It shows how weak they was to fall into that trap .

I knew where my hooyo and aabo came from and why the reason they came here
Always thought about it so I stayed away from these lifestyles and focused on my school.

It goes back to lacking identity. Islam & Somalinimo, they are bereft of who they are. They do not know the pride of knowledge both culturally & Islamically, they status of excellence in Islam (Ihsan), they cannot see the bigger picture that their Abtiris literally fought tooth and nail to get to the comfort that they are in right now.
Identity crisis is real, Dhaqan Celis as a solution isn’t wrong in and of itself, however no man can change himself unless there is a realisation, urgency and will to change. Otherwise your merely changing their location and not their mindset. Personally, I think its unthinkable for my children inshaaAllah to grow up in the West around gangs & lacking identity. I’d much rather their struggle be starvation than struggling with identity and joining gangs just to be either shot dead or go prison. My pops always used to say whenever we heard about a Somali who died from gang violence - how tragic it is that the person AUN parents brought them over to the West for the purpose of getting an education and making something of themselves, only for them to die in a not-too-dissimilar manner from the murders in the civil war.
