why do so many somalis say that our food is imported

They never give credits to Somalis .

Every culture relied on spices or vegetables that were imported & now are part of their national dish .

Nobody would say pasta & pizza isnt Italian, because tomatoes aren't native to Europe lol

It’s sad that Somalis see a dish similar to another country and immediately assume that we copied it.

Yes, dishes like baasto or bariis iskukaris are very clear cut copies but other dishes are most likely coincidence or originated here.

Sxb most is foreign. Even rooti the loanword comes from india. Biryani fasulia sabyaad baasto bariis etc.

We got most of our seasoning or taught it during colonial times when britian controlled aden and flooded the place with indian/pakistanis, as well as their spices. They taught the yemenis aswell.

because we didnt have the concept of bread then. we had sabaayad, kimis and muufo, not bread. sabaayad is somali. if rice isnt somali, then rice is not indian or arab, its only chinese.

we can be influenced by other groups but to say most of our food isnt natively somali is absurd

Maybe but you do know Somalia has been a spice/seasoning trader for centuries since the Greco-Roman period.

So maybe we borrowed the dishes but Somalis always had access to spices since the time of Isa AS.

No

Far older, Ancient ports in the North-East of Somalia were selling spices to the ancient world. Bosaso was called Mosylon, Hafun was called Opone by the Greeks, etc.

Look up Periplus of the Erythrean Sea.

We were taught it, and not the founders.

Tell me a spice locally grown that all qabils add to their dishes.

The ancient world thought Somalia had the best Cinnamon in the world, thanks to ancient Somali traders selling it out of Ports in the North. That's why Puntland area was called "The Cape of Spices".

Obviously not grown locally, but they convinced the world it was.

We're not passive consumers or adopters of anything.
