It always has been and that is the best way to look at it if you want a healthy and long lasting relationship you should negotiate and communicate so you both know your do's and don'ts and whatever either of you intend on compromising on.

love is build over time that's what the relationship is for. As long as there is some form of sexual attraction and you get everything else you need then love will only grow from then on.

People who don’t like their family were like that from the start. A lot of people feel fulfilled when they have a family, having a family is basically our biological function and what most humans will eventually have.
I want to know why people want to get married, I don't understand it, it baffles me,

I think at any age we are settling because no one is perfect. I'd say you're really settling once you're over 35 and still not married. People like that are usually way too picky.
You didn't see all of the struggle and sleepless nights and depression and sadness and tiredness and pain and lack of freedom and difficulty and constant work your parents had to go through
I mean settling is different from compromising which I mentioned. However, the older you get the pool of prospective spouses gets smaller and eventually, you will have to settle.
