Why do people think before the civil war was the prime of Somalia?

Somalia has not hit it's prime yet

We were still one of the poorest countries in the world back in the 60s, 70s, 80s with one of the top 15 smallest nominal gdp and per capita.

We still had tribal fights and violence. we still relied on foreign money, we didn't have an established economy.

the only difference between then and now is that we weren't in war.

Somalia has not even been close to hitting it's prime as a country.

well, that might be true, but in that time we:
-Have been united more than ever
-Our language finally had its "official" language
-The illiteracy rate dropped
- Our army was fine, it'd have been great if it wasn't used against us.

The economy was just beginning of course we were poor, however we were politically savage and became notorious in lobbying for africa.

the rule for somalis is once the ball gets rolling, we can achieve the unimaginable in africa.

the country was in a better state then its now

Somalis glorify the Siyad Barre era because it was the last time we had any semblance of order in the country

That's it really. Somalia was still extremely poor and relied on foreign aid. Outside the capital you had people living on the brink of survival, as poor as you could imagine.

But then again, that was still better than what followed
