Why do people say Sool region is a desert?

It is savanna land for the most part. Sool is actually much more fertile than a lot of other regions in Somalia.

It's good for lifestock, but can you have large-scale farms there? i don't mean a tree here or there, i mean big farm projects?

Haven't you seen those farm projects in central Somalia (Mudug)? if it is possible there it is more than possible in Sool.

Large scale farms can be set up in some villages but not others. Elders won't let you in some villages set up farms as they want to keep the land for grazing.

Are you from there or are you speculating?

Some clans are territorial about land. It's why I won't invest in other regions just yet.

Same in Sanaag. Some areas are empty but you gotta work the farms yourself.

Just get to know your elders and ask around and buy land that's empty. As long as you have it good with your qabil, then your safe to own land. Others get their land nicked without their qabil backing them. Happened to a lot in the south. Wasted investment.

True for the most part but you need to add value to your tribe or clan elders to back you or be from a prominent family.

A few from my village even had their land taken but no one will do anything about it unless the fam pay like 6k or something for them to do anything to the guy who took it. Very peak.
