Cook dinner everyday?
My parents expect me to cook a dish for the whole family every single day. I'm actually sick of it, my hoyoo won't allow my brother's to step into the kitchen, her excuse no , they don't know how to cook.

It's always "Soul Searching" because she's always listening and never says no.

If she says no we will abuse her and say she's sick and lazy:frdfvsb:

How do I get out of this toxic cycle, should I burn the food on purpose or add laxatives:browtf:

My mother sue to get me to cook food too but only because I was good at it.

Use that time to just improve your cooking learn more dishes or just disappear when your mother's about to force you to make food.

Are you a girl or a boy?
I have used the disappearing tactic many times....it doesn't work. They will stay hungry or wait untill I return.

I'm a male but this still doesn't stop my mother. Apparently taste is more important than what gender made it

Dang, I can only say make food for yourself and come up with an excuses everytime they try to get you to make it.

That's not a solution, I will need to cook still for the hubby.
Its less frequent than everyday.A lot of somali couples here have designated days(2 max) where the husband cooks or attempts to cook. That being said,i've also heard that married women buy all their groceries Sunday morning and go crazy cooking 3-4 dishes that day in preparation for the week. That way u can refrigerate the food made and not have to worry about cooking food after a long day at work if you and your hubby are both working. Its tuff but it definitely beats having to cook 7 days a week :francis: :manny:

I like my food fresh though lol those food preps are not made for me.

It depends on what your cooking, for example if its simple bariis sometimes I'd just put the bariis and chicken on low heat on the cooker after preparing it and just read a book during that time, listen to a podcast or do something else and just keep an eye on it, time flies and its done before you know it. Why dont you teach your brother how to cook?
