By the way, about my "Iran Vs Persia" point it's actually funny that it was the Shah, particularly the founder of recent Pahlavi dynasty, who doubled down on Iran and requested that the international community use that name and not "Persia":

"We ask the international community to respect the identity and sovereignty of our nation by calling it Iran, as we call it ourselves, and not Persia, which reflects a limited view of our history." - Reza Shah Pahlavi

These rabid western Iranians are usually monarchists and idealize the Pahlavis and the periods under them yet seem to forget this fact. Again, because "Persia" just sounds sexier to the white man.

You can blame the Islamic Regime who use Islam to justify the repression of Iranians. Imagine your daughter being killed simply for not wearing a hijab correctly, that’s the reality Iranians live with. Not even the Saudis will kill you for that.

And also the country is held back by the regime as well, Iranians have to live with a garbage economy, multiple sanctions and just overall shit global reputation.

Iranians suffer but the Islamic regime is more interested in fighting the West. The regime doesn’t care about Iranians at all.

Not sure why you’re surprised honestly. The Islamic regime in Iran is in some ways worse than Saudi Arabia, but without the luxurious lifestyle that Saudis enjoy.

It causes people to be extreme.
