For what reason they spend huge chunks of their budget on armed forces 😭 all the Arabian gulf countries spends 100 of billions of dollars every couple of years and North Africans 10 billions of dollars to, and for what.
they are not fighting anyone, Compared to sub Saharan Africans put them all together and they will not amount to 5% of what Arab are spending on their military. Am looking at Wikipedia and am seeing crazy amounts of the modern weapons that Arab have compared to Africans 😂 I understand Arab gulf countries spending cause how much money they get from oil, but the other Arab like North Africa or levant were their people are suffering from poverty and lack of jobs.

Paranoia, even in Saudi, there’s the national army and the royal guard, they don’t trust the national army to protect or guard their position of power if they come under threat from within, so they built the royal/national guard, which is devoted exclusively to the royal family and guarding the royal family from internal plots.

all that spending on US weapons just to get xooged by khat addicted shias
Yemen is mountainous region and it’s hard to invade it just like USA couldn’t control Afghanistan cause basically the whole region is full of mountains. Mountains= hard to invade

Mountains are not the ones fighting but people are, just look at Vietnam, they had the seccesionists south Vietnam + the Americans fighting against the Vietcong, but still they couldn't defeat the Vietcong who had the support of the people in Vietnam.

I think most Arab governments only have a military to defend themselves from their own citizens. Baathist Iraq was probably one of the last Arab countries that built a military to actually go to war and not to oppress its civilians

list of countries by number of battle tanks, arab and muslim countries are stacking up huge amounts, didn't really help iraq due to massive air superiority but might deter smaller countries from acting recklessly

Iran would have took over UAE if it wasn’t for Western support. Gulf governments are petrified with Iran using proxies to expand.
they already took several islands from the UAE and they can't do anything about it, they also claim the entirety of Bahrain for themselves

I meant the whole land. They would have done it slowly or by force if it wasn’t for USA bases. Saudi increase in spending is also related Iran/Houthis.

I know a white British guy who has been in the military for many years. His military friends are getting rich from teaching Arabs how to use “Sophisticated” military equipment.😂

i think if iran actually invaded arabia a lot of people who support Iran might turn on them, there's still some Arab chauvinism in the region, it's one reason for why they use proxies.

The total nature of the function of the military, adding its extent, is different between countries. For example, Egypt has an integrated military structure into civic society. Many billions that are spent on the military will then be going into other governmental spending, as the military is a way to channel work labor and infrastructural projects. It is hard to distinguish what is military sectioned and governmental sometimes. So maybe what goes into arms expenditure is deflated from the perceived number.

Lack of transparency for expenditure has given too low of the number on Egypt's accounts of use of resources for the military. This has also to do with cross-allocation between different sectors, making a large aggregation of off-budget actions.
